Lake Country Orchestra Gives Stunning Concert

Small Symphony Orchestra

Sean Phelan, Conductor

Everything seemed to go wrong except the music.

Christmas Medley by Leroy Anderson

This was a unique way to introduce the audience to the approaching season.   The kind of music we hear at all the shopping malls without having to spend lots of money !  The other outcome was a revival of our Christmas spirit.

Pavane, Op. 50, Composer Gabriel Faure’

Originally written in 1887 as a piano piece but is better known when played by an orchestra with an optional chorus.  A nice twist from the previous selection.

Finlandia, Composer John Sebelius

One of the National Anthems of the country of Finland.  Later, Sebelius wrote some of the music as a stand-a-lone hymn.  Words were added in 1941 to the hymn.  The hymn is known by many other titles.

Mozart Symphony No. 25 In G Minor

Who wouldn’t recognize a Mozart Symphony with the heavy concentration of the violin ?  Always a pleasurable experience !

Nabucco Overture, Composer Giuseppe Verdi

The story encompasses the enslavement of the Hebrews.  This piece was orginally written as an opera.

Following the concert, the Lake Country Orchestra members held a reception in the lobby of the center.  It was a great opportunity to mingle by members and audience.  Refreshments were served and everyone seemed to enjoy the event.

The next concert of the lake country orchestra will be March 13, 2016.  Mark your calendar and give this wonderful organization your community support.  Website:  http://www.oconchamberorch.org/174-2/
